Today we walked from Milngavie to Drymen as part of our training for walking the West Highland Way in 6 weeks time.
We started from Milngavie at just after 7:20am. The (7:22) train from Glasgow was just getting in, but we’d driven to Milngavie. We managed to leave with another couple of walkers, but we went ahead of them.
I hadn’t been feeling too good the last few days, and my cough is still very much here, but I thought a nice walk would maybe do me good.
Jasper and Asda enjoyed themselves, even though it was a little rainy. Light rain was forecast and it was on and off all day. YOu can see their blog post here.
This is just before we had our bagel and nutella.
I had been thinking about having it for about an hour!
This sign is about 5 miles in just before the path opens up.
This is a new sign I, don’t think it was there the last time we were there. 6 miles in, 7 miles to Drymen.
We liked this view.
I kept my rain coat on all day, and the hood gave me good protection from any rain or wind.
Still not 100% but getting there.
This was just before Drymen at the top of the hill.
Nearly finished. I haven’t trained since last Tuesday and my legs were a little tired after 12 miles of fast walking.
We met these donkeys and horses at Drymen.
Asda and Jasper liked the brown horse. The Donkeys ‘heee hawed’ when we left.
We got to Drymen in around 3:45, well before noon, at around 11:15am! A nice fast walk. After a wee chicken sandwich in Drymen, we went to the local Butcher and invested in some very tasty Steak Burgers for dinner tonight, some eggs, sausages and bacon for breakfast on Sunday and some Steak Pie for Sunday night. :-) All very reasonable too. x

I felt ok, but was still coughing. I think I’ll maybe try some strength work at the start of next week and aim to try out some running later in the week. I’m still undecided if I’ll be well enough for my planned long run on Saturday, I’ll just need to take it as it comes and see how I feel. If I don’t do it next weekend, I’ll walk again and run the weekend after.
